Injury Quotient 2014

Added 23 Feb 2015

The list below summarises the injury woes for all 18 AFL clubs during the 2014 season.

A club is assigned 4 points for each game missed (through injury) by a superstar.  Three points are assigned

for a top player missing a game, then 2 points for a regular player and 1 point for a fringe player.  Zero points
are allotted for weeks missed by players who have no realistic chance of playing during the season (raw
rookies and project players, for example).

Things to note:
It may surprise some to see the Hawks so far down the list.  It should be noted that they had most of their
injuries at the same time AND they were the reigning premiers – hence the newsworthy nature of their injury
troubles at the time.

Their is not much difference between Geelong (ranked 3rd worst for injuries) and the Giants (ranked 13th
worst for injuries).

It is slightly more likely that a team with bad injuries in one year will also be hard done by the next year. One
should not naturally assume that teams such as Collingwood and Brisbane will be free from bad injuries in
2015.
