Updates to appear sometime after each NAB Cup match (last update 12 March 2012 after NAB R3 and updates / additions have a *)

West Coast Eagles 14 wins and 4th.

Initial tip was reasonable. The concern for the Eagles is that they have already lost Le Cras for the year, while Kennedy, Embley and Nicoski are missing huge chunks of the season. The club would hope the last 3 mentioned can all run back into form before the finals. Their injury list hit the depths last weekend vs Bombers (+ 2 suspensions), but things look to be on the slow improve. They end the year with a home game to the Pies, then a round 23 clash with the Hawks at the MCG. They would want to travel east again for week 1 of the finals

End of season: 15 wins and 5th.  Analysis was good.  15 wins would normally give you a double chance, but the Eagles didn’t get that luxury this time. They had their fair share of serious injuries, but most of these hit very early and the latter half of the year was freer of bad news.  The bad news on injuries was softened by the improvement in Gaff and Masten

Western Bulldogs 10 wins and 13th.

After round 7 updated analysis: 9 wins and 13th
Initial tip was very good. The Dogs are going through a rebuild of sorts and making the finals this year would require a miracle of sorts. Meanwhile, they will get good game time into developing players. The tough stretch for the Dogs is rounds 14 – 18 when they play the Dons, Freo (away), Hawks, Blues and Saints

End of season: 5 wins and 15th.  Analysis was barely passable.  The Dogs’ injury news did get worse as the season progressed, but there were also some disappointing returns from players.  Cooney’s knee never really came good. Grant and Jones did not improve as the club had hoped; and they weren’t many positives elsewhere.  The club is in a rebuilding phase of sizable proportions!
